ARTIST BIO
With a degree in fine arts from the University of New Mexico, I am grateful to reside in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for its light, nature, and diverse people. Oil paintings are my primary medium encompassing southwestern forests, alpine deserts, and portraits. I also offer some limited edition lithographs along with wood cut and linoleum prints.
Moving from bold, vibrant colors to softer high key palates, my pieces contain sections of impasto pigment and visible brushwork that are inspired by both quiet moments of life and the natural world. Organic landscapes of sky and earth, the temperature and feeling of the air, the sounds of wildlife in changing seasons, and intimate interiors all feed and inform my work.
Frequently I see an image or composition in my mind’s eye and feel compelled to articulate its essence and spirit. Other works formulate days or weeks before I get to the easel while some pieces cull when walking or viewing photos. There are so many inspirations in life to draw from. I often long for more hours in the day to paint, read, and gather with friends and family over a good meal near a fire under the stars.
